Are you Really Sorry ?
There was a season in which I struggled with masturbation and porn for years. So many times when I messed I up use to speak evil over myself. I thought God was going to punish me and remove my blessings, I couldn’t accept his mercy and grace. I was embarrassed to go to church. I had a lot of shame. I thought everybody knew. I felt very fake. I wanted to be perfect for God. I didn’t want to fail him after everything he did for me.
I realized I wasn’t really sorry. I had worldly sorrow. I was so focused on myself and how I mess-up that I didn’t think about how it affected God.

One way to know if you're experiencing worldly sorrow is if you are grieving for yourself, saying you’re how a terrible person, and focused on the embarrassment rather than grieving the holy spirit.
A Scripture from 2 Corinthians 7:10 says
“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”

Yes, we can feel sad about sin or lust but that doesn't mean we have to punish ourselves about it. God convicts the heart not condemns you. God is very forgiving. When Christ died on the cross he had overcome every single sin. There is freedom from sin therefore guilt and shame are not from God.
Remember who you are and whose you are
